Paula Poundstone & Friends
The Friends of the Library enjoyed a night of fun with Paula Poundstone when she performed at the Knight Theatre at Levine Center for the Arts on January 21, 2012. An avid supporter of libraries, Poundstone contributes a portion of the sales from her merchandise to local Friends organizations. Members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Friends volunteered to staff the merchandise table and got some extra help from Poundstone herself!
2nd Annual Rock & Read 5k Raises $25,000!
The Friends of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, the non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the library, hosted its second annual Rock & Read 5K Run/Walk presented by Katten and Target on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at the Scaleybark Library Branch in Southend. The group raised more than $25,000 for book collections at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and roughly 300 people participated in this year’s event.
