Why Rock & Read? All proceeds benefit the 2013 Friends effort to fundraise for book collections at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Public Library. The Friends of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is a non-profit organization established to champion the efforts of the Public Library System. Our mission is to support the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library as a vocal advocate before elected officials, community leaders and citizens at large and to raise funds to help achieve a level of excellence.
For every $1 invested, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library returns $4.57 in direct benefits to the community. Tens of thousands of school children utilize library literacy programs and homework help each year. Over 6,500 Charlotte-Mecklenburg teachers rely on library resources for their classrooms. The library is the area’s largest provider of internet access and the only access for over 70% of the 1.28 million library computer users last year.
In addition to raising money to support the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, the Friends of the Library also want to team up with other organizations in the community to make this race a success. Our goal is to connect our community and demonstrate that we are all in this race together. Check out our race partners on the left sidebar of this page.
